Writing a blog is a huge commitment. You have to research topics, schedule posts, promote them and, of course, write them. It's no surprise if you decide to turn to professional blog writers so they can spend their time writing, and you can spend your time doing what you love. If you want to hire a blog writer then it's the start of a long-term relationship. It's also very easy to get wrong. Here are my tips to hire a blog writer: 1. How will your writer improve your business? Before you start contacting writers, come up with a brief. You don't have to write a lengthy document, but you must understand what you want your writer to do, and what you want them to achieve. For example, are you looking to a writer with SEO experience to pull more people to your blog? Do you want a video blogger to stream content? Are you going to promote your blog across the social media sphere, or should you blogger? Try to list the projects you'd like your writer to work on too. By jotting down a few ideas and requirements, you'll save yourself (and your writer) a lot of time. 2. Where do you find professional blog writers?Next, you'll want to find a writer. So, where do you look? Word of mouth is your best bet. Ask colleagues, competitors and clients if they know a good writer. Read up and contact writers who already work with the sort of publications that match your business, interests or whose style you like. LinkedIn is a great online resource to scour online talent. And, of course, a quick Google search may reveal a good candidate. You could even use Twitter to hunt for talent. There are also sites such as Copify that promise to connect you with writers, for a (sometimes) rather low rate. I have mixed feelings here and would just offer one chunk of advice: You get what you pay for. 3. How do you make contact with a writer?A quick email or a LinkedIn message will do. Professional blog writers are busy people so just state who you are, where you found the writer's details and the sort of work you'd like then to do.
This will get the ball rolling and your blogger will advise you on how they work with clients. If you'd like to find out how I work with my clients, drop me an email: [email protected] or just write a comment below. Thanks!
