About Me

I live and work in Cambridge, a city that's integral in my current career as a science and technology writer, and previous lives as a software developer, journalist and marketer.
With two Masters degrees in Physics, one from York and the other from Cambridge University, I now have more than 15 years' experience as a tech writer. Along with my other freelance work, I currently work part-time as Head of Comms for Universal Quantum - a fantastic company that's currently building the world's first million-qubit quantum computer.
I recently started writing fiction and returned to Cambridge to study for a Diploma in Creative Writing. I'm now studying at the Faber Academy. My stories have appeared in anthologies for Blackwater Press, Indie Bites and Bag of Bones Press.
I also appeared on the cult Channel 4 game show 'Countdown' where I managed to win one of the show's elusive teapots. This fact seems to impress people more than my academic, story writing and career-based achievements (I like these people).
As I continue to juggle life as a tech copywriter and fiction writer, I'm not looking for any additional work at the current time. Thanks for stopping by and if you'd like to connect, you can find me on LinkedIn.

Rarely, does one have the pure pleasure of working with a colleague as intelligent and professional as I have had working with Gemma Church. She has added a full new dimension to our publication, is a team member's team member, and is an indispensable part of our organization. Selfishly, I'd like to keep her to ourselves, but knowing the bandwidth of her interests I just can't do so, and I highly recommend Gemma to any objective that she says she's interesting in taking on... this is one person that you can trust to do more than you will have asked for.

Gemma is one of those rare talents. An engaging writing style, with an in-depth understanding of science of technology. As a deep-tech company, there is always a struggle to get writers who understand the gist of the tech and explain it in an engaging style. Gemma ticks all the boxes. She has worked with us on writing case-studies and has done a fantastic job. I look forward to continue working with her.
